The album introduces the development of the art of carriage making in the 16th-18th centuries and the history of the collection of carriages belonging to the Moscow Kremlin Museum.
The carriages of the Kremlin collection came from the largest art centers of Europe and Russia, their creators were outstanding representatives of the carriage business and famous architects, sculptors and painters.
The decor of the carriages vividly reflected the leading stylistic trends of their time: late Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicism. Telling about the trolleys, carts and carriages, the author draws attention to the technical features of their design and exquisite decorative decoration.
Almost all the carriages are associated with the names of people who left a noticeable mark on Russian history, including Tsar Boris Godunov, Empresses Elizabeth Petrovna and Catherine II.
Most of the carriages were used during the coronation ceremonies held in Moscow.
